The Drop: New PlayStation Games for August 20, 2019

Blur the line between life and death, or harness the powers of the post-apocalypse.

Blur the line between life and death in Oninaki. Tokyo RPG Factory’s newest game casts you as a Watcher, tasked with helping usher the souls of the departed into their next life. The Square Enix-published JRPG launches Thursday on PS4.

If you’re looking for something a bit stranger, Double Fine’s Rad lands on Tuesday. The new roguelike adventure encourages players to harness the mutagenic powers of the post-apocalypse post-apocalypse (not a typo) to brave the dangers of an unforgiving wasteland. Sounds rad.

    Kinda lost here.
Who is that Retailer where I can preorder Oninaki in USA?
I cannot find it, not even on Amazon.

    • NERVergoproxy

Probably not a USA retailer, but you can try Play-Asia

    • GoldenShaka

@NERVergoproxy Oh, an import, I see. Thanks.

    • I don’t think it’s normal to list a game as retail for an import so I expect that’s a mistake. It does have a physical release in Japan and apparently it does include an English option.

RAD and Oninaki are must buys for me.

  • NotACouchPotato

Already had RAD pre-ordered. Now I just gotta wait a couple more days.

Tokyo Chronos has really good reviews on Steam. Most of the negative reviews were from people have VR issues. That shouldn’t be a problem with PSVR.

The last VR VN for PS4 didn’t seem worth full-price, unlike Tokyo Chronos, which would be a solid VN without VR. Games like this should look very well on PS VR. Skyrim and even No Man’s Sky are reduced to blurry, PS2 res games. Expecting a PS4 Pro to do hi res VR is simply not possible, but PS5 should be able to handle it. Good times for fall 2020, PS5 and a new president being elected.

    • I’m searching for tokyo chronos and I can’t find it anywhere on the store. Did it get delayed?

  • RAD DUDE!

  • ElektroDragon

The only true rogue-like I’ve ever seen released on consoles is called “Quest of Dungeons”.
